I’m terrified of heights. When I took a day trip with friends to the Grand Canyon, I ultimately had to crawl to the edge of the South Rim on my hands and knees. When the bottom dropped out as I approached, my knees gave in. It’s an uncontrollable physiological response.
So when I needed to put the screen back on my skylight last night, it became a heroic feat. True bravery, because it meant pushing through real fear.
Every step I climb up the ladder, my fear increases. And to put the screen back in, I had to be on the second step from the top, and then stretch up to put in the pins that keep it in place. So my brain starts this battle that manifests in my body:
